Concept

A group of strangers thrown together by circumstance are left to pick up the pieces in a physically, emptionally, and intellectually challenging adventure that charges from explosive start to a shattering climax.

Aim

This is a collaborative D&D adventure in which the characters must work together right from the start, not just to survive but to work out what is going on.

Tone

The setting is vaguely late medieval with early modern elements (as with most WotC / Forgotten Realms adventures). The story combines high fantasy with noir mystery. Please create "believable fantasy" characters, Level 1, using any WotC official races/classes.

Subject Matter

Something bad just happened -- something that has a high body count -- and if your character survives it, you'll want to find out who was responsible. Expect violence of a graphic (if somewhat cartoonish) nature, but only to the extent typical of tabletop battles. References will also be made to other violence and crimes perpetrated by "bad guys". No violence is mentioned that involves children, is gendered/sexual, or is motivated by bigotry. No harassment permitted; X card rules. You are welcome to warn the DM in advance of any potential trauma triggers.
